4. The hook in this story is that even something good for you, like fruit juice, can hurt you if taken in excess. TOO MUCH FRUIT JUICE COULD PUT YOU IN THE HOSPITAL.

5. The hook in this story is that the beach is contaminated and now closed. THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT HAS CLOSED METRO BEACH BECAUSE OF E-COLI CONTAMINATION.

6. The hook in this story is immediacy. Police are searching right now. POLICE HAVE LOCKED DOWN EASTSIDE MALL AS THEY SEARCH FOR TWO CHILDREN.

7. The hook in this story is that the power is back on. POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED IN CHICAGO AFTER LAST NIGHT’S MASSIVE BLACKOUT.

8. The hook in this story is today’s heat, not yesterday’s. OUR SCORCHING HEAT WAVE CONTINUES WITH FORECASTS OF RECORD TEMPERATURES FOR TODAY.

9. The hook in this story is “today’s” deadline. YOUR TAX FILING DEADLINE HAS ARRIVED.

10. The hook in this story is that the man can walk. A MAN WHO HAS NEVER TAKEN A STEP ON HIS OWN CAN WALK TODAY THANKS TO A MEDICAL MIRACLE.
